Welcome to Dog Obedience Classroom

Are constantly doing battle with your dog, and you’re not sure who is taking the dog for a walk: you or the other way round. Or maybe you feel like you are the visitor in your own home (or maybe should I say “your dog’s home”!).

Or have you ever wondered if that “sad” face your dog is pulling is actually real sadness, or do you feel there is something else going on behind those sook like eyes and you’re being succored into a dog game you don’t understand?

Whatever the reason, every dog owner has been down this road before–the head banging frustration of trying to teach your dog a desirable behavior, or to stop an undesirable behavior.

There are a whole host of reasons why this could be the case, but whatever is causing your dog’s obedience problems, know that 99.9% of all dogs are good at heart and really want to learn how to please you. It’s what dogs do!

It’s just a matter of finding the reason for the problem (whether medical, psychological, behavioral or social) and then find and apply the best teaching method that works for both your dog and for you.

In reality, there are few things in life as simple and as straightforward as the relationship between you and your dog. Unfortunately it’s just we too often get it wrong and yet in most cases the answers are simple.

Don’t try to make your dog more “human like”, or blame the dog for not “being a good breed”. Instead it is you who must do the heavy lifting and try to understand your dog, to get into their head and their reality, work with them, not against them.

Dogs are reflections of us. As pack animals, their reactions and interactions are based almost entirely on what they perceive around them. They don’t have the same emotions as we do–instead they have instincts.

With that in mind, we have developed for you (and your dog) a range of excellent short articles on the most common issues to help. In addition we have a range of additional training materials that you may find useful.

Form dog owner to another, enjoy the journey! And also, woof, woof, woof … WOOF!
